Coaching Skills training delivered to medical consultants
Trainees who run into difficulties form a significant part of the work of our Programme Directors and Consultants. Consulting with them on a regular basis, it became clear that we had concentrated a lot on their case-finding skills but less on what happens next. The techniques for actually helping such colleagues were not so widely covered, often self-taught depending largely on our own individual experiences over the years. In coaching terms we were often enthusiastic amateurs rather than trained professionals. It seemed obvious that the next step was to start give the senior colleagues the tools to do this.
We commissioned training from What If Coaching and to date we have put 60 trainers through it. The feedback has been universally positive and I can honestly say has been the best for any training I have ever organised. The skills Claire teaches take colleagues on from simply recognising the problems to diagnosing them and starting the process of resolution. To get a better picture of what all the good feedback was about, I did the training myself. The self -management and motivation exercises are excellent and immediately helped me complete a piece of work I had been sitting on for months! My feeling is that every training site should have one or a pool of trainers with the skills these courses impart.
Egg engaged What If Coaching to help us recognise the different skills required for our staff to effectively coach customers back into financial health, and to understand the specific support those staff would require. Claire was able to quickly audit existing skills and recommend a training programme to meet our business objectives, further Claire was able to provide a coaching service to ensure that goals and concerns of individual staff members could be raised and then addressed over a period of time.

The variety of techniques Claire used to achieve real results was simple to follow, very effective and absolutely spot on.
Claire provided a solid platform on which to set out a self-development plan, setting individual goals, both long and short term, and focusing on the most important aspects of my career and day to day role. I now have an understanding of what motivates both myself and others, and how to manage individuals to get the best out of my team. She has also provided me with career focus and assisted me in prioritising time and people.
I would say that the financial value to date is in the region of £5,000 (return on investment of five times the initial investment). The cost saving can be seen in better time management of the team's job roles, improving productivity, better management of the finance team, improving morale, giving them their own responsibilities, and ensuring that they no longer feel like the forgotten department which in turn makes it run more efficiently.
As a company presently going through a number of management changes and that has a wish to present a more polished and professional image, Claire's training and coaching has proved invaluable. Her insights into how to deal with staff and clients using the Strength Deployment Inventory was an eye opener and is used on a regular basis by all of the management team.
I can honestly say that spending time with Claire has been a pleasure and most enlightening. By delegating the work to others in the business my time has been freed up to concentrate on specific areas - marketing Long Eaton being the main one at the moment.
